The Light Fantastic II

Galaxies Abound...

Revisiting the original Tacking Point Panorama with new techniques and perspectives. 6 years to the day since the original shot, and the conditions on this night were even more perfect; clear skies, vibrant stars, and brilliant Venus setting to the south. The large group of stars to the right of frame is the Galactic Core of our Milky Way Galaxy. Alpha Centauri, the closest star to our planet, shines bright blue next to the Lighthouse alongside its partner, Beta Centauri. Together they make up the ‘Pointers’ or ‘Leaders’, which show the way to the Southern Cross just above the horizon. Finally, the two brilliant clusters directly above the Lighthouse are the Large and Small Magellanic Clouds, also distant galaxies.
